My Gender (poem)

This poem is something I wrote back on May 13th of this year. I'm not sure I feel the same about my gender now. But maybe, just maybe, you'll be able to parse some meaning from it to resonate with.

My gender is a desert.
And I am left dry and parched.
Solitude, and yet I hear it.
I hear the cacophony.

My gender has slain countless martyrs.
It has hundreds of eyes.
And yet it is blind. It only hears.
The cacophony, it beckons.

My gender is a story.
Alive, yet covered in the dried blood
of old wounds we once suffered.
And yet, now more than ever,

We miss the cacophony.
